Our History |
|
Our community came into being in 1972, on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, during a time when there were few services for the neighborhood’s many Jewish senior citizens. Many of us were influenced by, and involved in, the activism of the Sixties, and we were guided by the notion of Tikun Olam. Tikun Olam means, “to repair the world” and is for us a concept that defines the essence of being a Jew. We wanted the values and ethos of our personal lives to be reflected in our professional lives as well.
